Persistence of Sound

A new independent record label, Persistence of Sound, celebrates the world of musique concrète, field recordings, and the sounds in between. Inspired by composers Luc Ferrari, Beatriz Ferreyra, Pierre Henry, and Pierre Schaeffer, as well as sound recordists Chris Watson, Bernie Krause, and Jana Winderen.

Persistence of Sound is thrilled to present *Huellas Entreveradas*, a collection of new music by Beatriz Ferreyra. As a composer from the golden age of French electronic music with the Groupe de recherches musicales (GRM), Ferreyra's work breathes fresh life into classic musique concrète techniques.

The label's first three releases explore the power of location sound as a trigger for emotion and memory. They delve into the music within everyday sounds around us and showcase how modern musicians are using musique concrète tape techniques to transform concrete sounds from the real world. These albums are united by their modernism while representing specific places and times:

  • *The Eccentric Press* by Iain Chambers comprises two symphonies that celebrate pan-EU collaboration and cultural exchange through industrial and domestic technology recordings from Sounds of Changes project.
  • *Factitious Airs (Electronic Music)* is Robert Worby's first solo album—a visceral collection of contemporary electronic music where tiny fragments of other musics are fractured, manipulated, combined, and rearranged.
