Launching the weekend's musical programme on Friday 19th April, Caandides, a collective of gifted young Parisians will open with a live set of music combining elements of folk and synth based pop. As part of German record label Kompakt's 20th Anniversary celebrations, we're pleased that husband and wife duo Saschienne will be joining us with a live set of their hypnotic electronica ahead of the Kompakt party later on in the evening and closing the night will be Parisian experimental trailblazers Zombie Zombie with a special dj set of their favourite cinema-related records that inspire their own work.
Rough Trade On Tour – Disquaire Day 2013 will offer a typical Rough Trade edit of only the very best music, vinyl and cd, much of which will be especially released for Disquaire Day hence many rarities that are sure to sell out immediately and this year we will be bringing a bigger selection of some UK Record Store Day releases with us too. Those Rough Trade exclusive bonus discs will also be crossing the Channel and some very intimate in-store events and DJ sets will be taking place from the best acts around.
Bella Union's recent signing, Concrete Knives will kick off proceedings with a live performance of their catchy pop-punk songs bursting with infectious energy on Disquaire Day. The first band coined as "Cold Gaze" by the NME Team Ghost will be in store with a selection of records to play as part of their dj set and will be happy to sign their special release coming out for the day. Another special release coming out for Disquaire Day is by French band and thoroughbred remixers Chateau Marmont. Ahead of their long-awaited LP, Chateau Marmont are releasing a one sided 12" with special engraving entitled Colonization. The trio will be on hand to sign records and will also be djing in the store during the afternoon.
This year it also gives us great pleasure to announce that we have a celebrity guest record seller behind the counter. As part of their 10th anniversary celebrations, Pedro 'Busy P' Winter, head of Ed Banger Records, will be offering his recommendations to customers and has formulated a Top 10 chart including albums that have inspired and influenced his record label.
Check out some footage of Ed Banger's recent 10 year anniversary celebrations at La Grande Halle de la Villette earlier this month…

Liverpool's psych-folktronica trio Stealing Sheep are returning to the French capital along with labelmates, Korg Delta led five-piece and one of Rough Trade's Top 10 artists of 2012, Toy. "J’aime la musique” is not just a small sentence written on a t-shirt. At agnès b. it is a real commitment! The motivations: to reveal up and coming bands, provide visibility to record labels and young artists... independent like us.
For the past ten years, agnès b. has offered “carte blanche” to these labels, highlighting debut albums through the online radio, and has sold favourite music in her boutiques, so it was a logical idea that Rough Trade and agnès b. join forces to defend these values.
We will also be joined by OUI FM who will be broadcasting live shows from the store over the weekend. Legendary French music journalist Philippe Manœuvre will host his daily 'L'EXCESsive Vinyl Session' show and Marjorie Hache, who presents OUI FM's British music show will also be hosting a special edition of her programme 'UK Beats'.
More special guests will be performing live on Disquaire Day but we have to keep some secrets from you.
