THE SKUZZIES / LITTLE JOHN ROCKET
ice cold / at an end
Release Date: 17/09/2007
limited split single on framingo records. having won over a 2,000 strong rioting crowd when they played the notorious baby shambles astoria gig in 2004, the skuzzies then mysteriously slipped away. homelessness, squat life and hard times forced the band to take a 2 year hiatus until founding members, reunited in 2006. scarred by the past and fighting for a future, the skuzzie's visceral excitement, compulsive hooks and punchy tunes make them a truly unique proposition. strokes producer gordon raphael, who worked with the skuzzies on their demo and produced this release on framingo records, described them 'as the best band in london in the last 5 years'. 'ice cold' comes across like a dirty and scuzzy mix of prime johnny thunders / heartbreakers and the libertines. on the flip is little john rocket who dwell within the healthy music scene of glasgow. the 5-piece recently recorded tracks in the doghouse with their producer, the revered artist rico. the alliance between rico and little john rocket has forged a powerful mix of killer songs and fantastic production.
