this is the first offering from the duke spirit for a while, a 4 track ep recorded in joshua tree ca with chris goss (queens of the stone age). ironically for a record recorded in la with a 'rock' producer the band still sounds as quintessentially english as always. this ep though is a different beast to the band's 2005 debut 'cuts across the land'. the band have developed their exploration of noise and married it together with soul what people call 'pop sensibility' when they mean 'great songs'! this is already winning plaudits at press and radio and is likely to see the band's album, due early 2008, widely anticipated.
