this is the debut album from the leisure society from burton-upon-trent and it could easily be the english version of the department of eagles, fleet foxes or sufjan stevens. it's a clean, nostalgic folk sound underpinned by unmistakably ray davies-like wry and whimsical songwriting. the harmonies are intense, the narrative beautiful and the instrumentation diverse including the use of double bass, violin, cello, flute, mandolin, glockenspiel, drums, and maracas. the album is already loved by radio six, mark radcliffe, guy garvey from elbow and now the rough trade shops. a perfect and timeless album of wintry romanticism that will warm your soul.
