THE INVISIBLE
the invisible

Release Date: 02/03/2009

debut album from heavily touted electronic rock group, the invisible - often described as 'the british tv on the radio'. produced by matthew herbert for his renowned accidental label. towards the end of 2006, tom, leo and dave, three friends with impeccable musical pedigrees, (including roisin murphy, xx teens, amy winehouse, paul epworth, polar bear and bugz in the attic), embarked on what was originally intended as a solo project for dave. a beautiful album gradually emerged and,via the process of its creation, the invisible was born.
'london girl' and the band's eponymous debut lp are ambitious and skillfully crafted slices of sumptuous music, wide-ranging in their diverse influences and uncompromising in vision. theirs is a world where prince, king sunny ade, sonic youth, queens of the stone age, shuggie otis and radiohead are immersed in fruitful creative dialogue. classical, medieval church music and more digitized dance sounds all simmer beneath the surface too. through their combined magical musicianship and songwriting, the invisible meld these disparate soundsto forge something special, fresh and altogether new. production on the album is handled by matthew herbert. the invisible are the first group that the celebrated electronic pioneer has been inspired to work with in this way. herbert's influence can be heard in the balancing of electronic elements with more natural, organic sounds, matching his studio expertise with the band's live sound. another vital element within the creative dynamic is the presence of phenomenal uk-based singer eska, whose contribution adds significantly to the mood and texture of the album. cd only.
