heavyweight double vinyl set. two years after announcing themselves in a whirlwind of hype, conceptual aesthetics and debut albums, london's horrors return with a revelatory sophomore effort. eschewing much of the spare garage freakbeat of their debut in favour of a dense, layered sonic approach, building epic soundscapes out of motorik rhythms, washes of guitars and spectral, claustrophobic synths. one of the most eagerly anticipated records of the year, already prompting journalistic superlatives from all corners, but this is easily worth the clamour; an intelligent, rewarding slab of inventive rock music.
