mercurial merseyside art-poppers wave machines re-release the long sold out debut single 'i go i go i go'. four masked figures, eyes darting left to right as a haphazard disco groove falls together. from instinctive fits and starts of guitar, cowbell and drums, 'i go i go i go' blossoms into a sparkling hook of mirror ball guitar. an art rock disco brought to the boil with a cash converter keyboard and start-up drum kit. for all their immediate melody and impulsive groove, wave machines produce a fragile kind of pop. rhythms built of melodic ticks and bleeps; polka dots of sound drawn together beneath a distinct falsetto vocal. twelve months of making and breaking sounds in a liverpool dock road warehouse, has produced an essential pop of artistic depth and visual intrigue, imbued with a sense of reckless fun. their occasional forays from that northwest lock up have revealed an enigmatic four piece. alternate front men, a zither beating bass player, a drummer crowning beats with hooks from an electro vibraphone, wave machines cast spells around their apparatus in a ludicrously joyful live show. the limited 7" comes backed with exclusive b-side 'don't run for your life, run for mine'.
