'lungs' was produced by paul epworth (bloc party, maximo park et al), simian mobile disco's james ford (arctic monkeys, klaxons, last shadow puppets) and steve mackay (pulp, m.i.a.) - it's sound is big, bold and polished. standouts are the pj harvey inspired skeletal blues stomp of 2008 single 'kiss with a fist' to the joyful and exuberant kate bush esque 'rabbit heart (raise it up)'. it's an inventive record that bristles with energy and passion. florence welch is a thoroughly modern pop star for 2009.
