'firefly' is an epic fable, caressed and condensed into a humble 3 mins 40 seconds. with a chorus of strings underpinning the dark distortions of john barry sequences, the song offers a rare moment of tenderness for matt forder's dynamic vocals. b-side 'this oubliette', is upbeat (betraying its theme of isolation) and packs in a twisted valentine's lead hook, cure-like gloomy playfulness and a stone roses run-out groove. the domino state's epic, effects laden sound has as much in common with the energy of post-punk as the post-shoegaze scene that spawned them. the combination of bold, anthemic song writing has attracted rave press reviews and radio play in the uk and earned them high profile live exposure, including opening for coldplay at the o2 arena and a uk support tour with m83 at the end of last year.
