continuing saddle creek's diversification into previously unknown realms of musical fancy, uuvvwwz (pronounced double u, double v, double w, zee) spring from the label's homestead of nebraska - lincoln to be precise, with a musical concoction variously described as avant-rock / blues and, at worst, power jazz. neither of these terms work very well at describing the sounds of uuvvwwz - comparisons don't fare so well either - captain beefheart, deerhoof, lydia lunch, dog faced hermans... this is a young band still growing creatively and willing to test the further reaches of musical boundaries. the debut album is a testament to that.
