after spending four years in recording silence, decoder ring have returned with fourth studio album, 'they blind the stars, and the wild team' featuring the production skills of scott colburn (arcade fire, animal collective, yeasayer). it's a vivid collection of musical sound scapes and meticulously crafted dream-pop. the album is divided over two discs, the first side featuring great sonic band work and the second side featuring heavily orchestrated pieces that stretch the bands musical palette to great effect, all in all delivering another great addition to the decoder ring catalogue. it sounds like mazzy star and virginia astley going on a stoner picnic only to find yo la tengo in the next field.
