Arthur Alexander

Arthur Alexander was a southern soul/ country soul singer who played a significant role in the development of Muscle Shoals Studio. Despite not achieving great success as a singer himself, his songs were covered by renowned artists such as The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. Unfortunately, health issues forced him to retire from music in 1975. However, he made a comeback with an album in 1993 before his untimely death from heart failure. Alexander's soft and low crooning style resembled that of Sam Cooke.

Some of Alexander's notable compositions include 'Anna' covered by The Beatles and 'You Better Move On' featured on The Rolling Stones' EP. Other artists like [m107567] have also sung songs penned by Alexander.

If you enjoy the music of Don Covay, James Carr, or Doris Duke, you may find Arthur Alexander's soulful sound appealing.
