Asmus Tietchens

Asmus Tietchens is a German experimental musician born on 3 February 1947 in Hamburg. He has been recording sound experiments since 1965, using electronic musical instruments, synthesizers, and tape loops. In the 1970s, Tietchens crossed paths with producer Okko Bekker, who has been credited as producer on his releases ever since.

While some of Tietchen's early 80s recordings can be classified as "electronic pseudo-pop," the majority of his works are highly experimental in nature. Drawing inspiration from various genres such as Industrial, Electro-Acoustic, Ambient, and Musique Concrète, he creates abstract sound collages that push the boundaries of music.

Tietchens' albums often feature quotes from philosopher [a1452451] on their sleeves. If you enjoy artists like David Toop, CoH, Nocturnal Emissions, or Nurse With Wound among others listed below*, then Asmus Tietchens' unique blend of experimental sounds will surely captivate your ears.
