Buck Owens

Buck Owens, born on 12 August 1929 in Sherman, Texas and died on 25 March 2006 in Bakersfield, California, was a renowned country music artist. He made his mark in the vibrant Bakersfield music scene during the 1950s as lead guitar player and singer for various bands. Buck's career took off when he signed with Capitol Records in 1957 and released his first chart record "Second Fiddle" two years later.

Throughout the '60s, Buck Owens dominated the charts with numerous #1 hits like "Act Naturally," "I've Got a Tiger By the Tail," and "Think of Me." Unlike other artists at that time, Buck always recorded with his road band, giving his records a distinctive sound and live feel. His signature style featured simple storylines, infectious choruses, twangy electric guitar, an insistent rhythm provided by forward-placed drum tracks, and high harmonies with fiddler *Don Rich*.

In addition to his successful music career, Buck Owens also invested in radio stations throughout the Southwest and established his own management agency alongside manager *Jack McFadden*. After retiring from music in the '70s, he was coaxed back into the spotlight by *Dwight Yoakam* in 1988. Their duet "Streets of Bakersfield" topped the charts once again. Buck released two more albums before his passing
