Convextion

Gerard Hanson, also known as Convextion, is an enigmatic artist hailing from Dallas, Texas. Born in 1972, his music reflects the influential sounds of Basic Channel/Chain Reaction and draws inspiration from legendary artists such as Juan Atkins and Derrick May. Combining elements of deepness, minimalism, and soul, Convextion has created a unique Detroit-Berlin connection in his productions.

In 1994, Gerard Hanson co-founded 'Hardsync', a magazine dedicated to electronic music reviews and artist interviews. Although it ceased publication in 1996 due to a computer crash, Hardsync provided a platform for Texas-based electronic music enthusiasts to connect with like-minded individuals worldwide.

Convextion released his first 12" on Matrix in 1995 and continued to release several EPs until 2005. However, he grew disillusioned with labels that failed to understand his sound or simply wanted more of the same. As a result, he stopped releasing music and focused on producing for personal use only.

After being convinced by Down Low Records to resume his production work, Convextion cautiously began sharing his music again under various aliases such as E.R.P (Event Related Potential). Maintaining anonymity since his debut in 1995, Gerard emerged from obscurity for a live performance in London in April 2006.
