Eddie Hazel

Eddie Hazel, born on April 10, 1950 in Brooklyn, NY, was a pivotal member of the Parliament/Funkadelic collective during the early 70s. Originally a session player for *a386749* at just 17 years old, he was convinced by George Clinton and Billy Nelson to join their ranks. Widely regarded as one of the first guitarists to blend hard-rock and funk, his groundbreaking solos on tracks like "Maggot Brain" solidified him as the ultimate funk guitar-hero.

Despite his immense influence on other funk guitarists within the P.Funk camp and beyond, Hazel's involvement with George Clinton's posse waned in the 80s due to a shift towards electro-funk and personal struggles with substance abuse. Tragically, Eddie Hazel passed away on December 23, 1992 at the age of 42.

Hazel released one solo record under Warner Brothers in 1977 and posthumously had a CD released in 1994 featuring previously unreleased material. His legacy lives on through his timeless music.
