Henri Pousseur

Henri Pousseur (1929-2009) was a Belgian composer known for his work in dodecaphonic and serial music. He studied at music conservatories in Liège and Brussels before collaborating with renowned composers Boulez and Stockhausen. In 1958, Pousseur established his own studio in Brussels. Throughout his career, he taught composition in various cities and directed the city music conservatory in Liège. Pousseur's notable collaborations with French poet Michel Butor include works such as Votre Faust, Répons, Le procès du jeune chien, La rose des voix, Déclarations d'orages, Les leçons d'enfer, and Le Sablier du Phénix.

Pousseur's innovative approach to composition made him a respected figure in the field of contemporary music. His unique style combined elements of avant-garde techniques with traditional musical forms. His works often challenged conventional notions of harmony and structure.
