Joe Meek

Joe Meek was an English record producer, recording engineer, and songwriter. He is best known for his work with *The Tornados*, including their hit song "Telstar" in 1962. Born on April 5, 1929 in Newent, Gloucestershire, Meek tragically died by murder-suicide in London on February 3, 1967. He is widely regarded as the UK's first independent pop record producer and was a co-owner of R.G.M. Sound.
