Loleatta Holloway

Loleatta Holloway was a renowned American singer born in Chicago, Illinois on November 5, 1946. She began her musical journey singing gospel music with the Queen of Gospel, Albertina Walker and the Caravans. In 1976, she ventured into Disco productions and made a significant impact with timeless classics like "Love Sensation" and "Relight My Fire". Despite leaving Salsoul Records in 1984 to work on her album "Crash Goes Love", only two singles were released. However, Holloway's vocals continued to resonate through the years as House producers sampled her hits for their tracks.

Notably, *Black Box* utilized her vocals from the disco hit "Love Sensation" without credit until she successfully sued them and received royalties. The same fate did not befall *Marky Mark & The Funky Bunch*, who properly paid and credited Holloway for sampling her vocals in their song "Good Vibrations". Her influence can also be seen through collaborations with other artists such as *Dan Hartman* on songs like "Relight My Fire".

With an authoritative presence in the Disco genre, Loleatta Holloway's talent remains legendary even after her passing on March 21, 2011. Fans of artists like *Inner Life*, *First Choice*, and *The Salsoul Orchestra* will appreciate Holloway's powerful vocals that captivated audiences worldwide.
