Peggy Lee

Peggy Lee was an American jazz and popular music singer, songwriter, composer, and actress. Born on May 26, 1920 in Jamestown, North Dakota, USA, she had a prolific career that spanned several decades. She gained recognition for her role as the hard-drinking singer in the jazz saga "Pete Kelly's Blues" (1955), which earned her an Academy Award nomination. Additionally, she composed songs for the beloved Walt Disney animated classic "Lady and the Tramp" (1955).

Throughout her career, Peggy Lee achieved chart success with numerous songs. While she had higher-ranking hits such as "Mañana (Is Soon Enough for Me)" (#1 in 1948) and "Golden Earrings" (#2 in 1948), it is her iconic song "Fever" that has become synonymous with her as a singer. Released in 1958, "Fever" reached #8 on the U.S. charts and #5 on the U.K. charts.

In addition to her solo work, Peggy Lee collaborated with various artists including Mel Tormé, Bing Crosby, and Gordon Jenkins and His Orchestra. As a songwriter herself, she penned twelve charted songs including the hit "Mañana (Is Soon Enough for Me)" co-written with her then-husband Dave Barbour.
