Poison Idea

Poison Idea is a punk rock band that was formed in 1980 in Portland, Oregon. Led by vocalist Jerry A., the band quickly established a solid lineup and drew inspiration from influential bands like the Germs and Black Flag. Known for their raw and angry hardcore sound, Poison Idea pushed the boundaries of contemporary punk rock with their intense music influenced by bands such as Discharge and SOA.

Throughout their career, Poison Idea underwent several lineup changes but continued to deliver powerful music. In 1986, they released the Kings of Punk LP, showcasing a shift towards a more driving, Motorhead-influenced sound without losing any of their intensity or nihilism. Despite facing challenges with record companies and distributors, the band persevered by starting their own label called American Leather.

In 1990, Poison Idea achieved critical acclaim with the release of Feel the Darkness LP, successfully blending elements of hardcore and hard rock to create a dark and powerful sound. Over the years, they released numerous records including full-length albums, EPs, and cover collections before disbanding in 2017.
