Post Malone

Austin Richard Post, known professionally as Post Malone, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, and guitarist. He gained major recognition in 2015 with the release of his debut single "White Iverson" and subsequently signed a record deal with Republic Records. Malone's debut studio album Stoney was released in 2016.

Malone was born in Syracuse, New York and later moved to Grapevine, Texas. Growing up, he developed a passion for basketball and music. His father's role with the Dallas Cowboys allowed him access to free food and tickets to games. Inspired by the video game Guitar Hero, Malone began playing guitar and even auditioned for a band called Crown the Empire. Although he faced rejection during the audition due to broken strings on his guitar.

At the age of 16, Malone started producing music using FL Studio and worked on his first mixtape. Sharing it with classmates at Grapevine High School brought him local recognition. He attributes his love for music to his father's influence and exposure to various genres including country music. While briefly attending Syracuse University, Malone decided to pursue his musical career full-time.
