Prolapse

The year 1993 marked the emergence of Prolapse, a band that revitalized post-Sonic Youth noise pop. Hailing from Leicester, England, this motley crew of archaeology students and experimental drama enthusiasts brought an element of fun to their droning guitars, grinding bass riffs, and pounding drums. What set Prolapse apart from other art-focused bands was their liveliness, submerged humor, and preference for driving rhythmic grooves over self-indulgent fretwank. Their performances were often unpredictable and tempestuous, with the two vocalists - Mick Derrick and Linda Steelyard - engaging in both verbal and physical battles on stage.

Prolapse's sound can be likened to artists such as Quickspace, Moonshake, Long Fin Killie, Urusei Yatsura, Bitch Magnet, Disco Inferno, Dog Faced Hermans, Come, Polvo,Flying Saucer Attack,Band Of Susans ,Brainiac,Jessamine ,Supreme Dicks ,The Fall ,The Wedding Present ,The Ex,Movietone,Six by Seven, and JUNE OF 44.

Despite originating from an English sleaze-rock backwater like Leicester during a seemingly unfavorable time for their genre,Prolapse managed to inject new life into post-noise pop through their energetic performances and unique blend of humor. With their penchant for driving rhythms rather than self-indulgence,the band stood out among the art
