The Blow

Fronted by lead singer, songwriter, guitarist, bassist, and piano player Dr. Robert, the group formed in 1981 upon Howard's return to the United Kingdom after spending several years in Australia. The Blow gained recognition with their hit single "Digging Your Scene" in 1986, which addressed the AIDS-fueled backlash against the LGBTQ+ community. Their music resonated globally, reaching high positions on various charts including Billboard Hot 100 and UK Singles Chart.

The Blow Monkeys released several albums throughout their career, including "She Was Only a Grocer's Daughter," featuring their biggest hit "It Doesn't Have to Be This Way." After disbanding in 1990, Dr. Robert pursued solo projects and collaborated with notable artists such as Paul Weller and Beth Orton.

In 2007, the original band members reunited to release a new album called "Devil's Tavern" funded by pre-orders from dedicated fans. They continued to create music together and embarked on tours. With a soulful sound rooted in funk and soul influences, The Blow Monkeys released their tenth studio album "The Wild River" in 2017.
