The Carter Family

The Carter Family is an American traditional folk music group that was formed in 1927. Their music has had a profound influence on bluegrass, country, folk, and rock musicians. The original group disbanded in 1944 when A.P. Carter and Sara Carter left, but Maybelle Carter and her daughters continued performing as *a1353326*. In the 1960s, *a1353326* reclaimed the name The Carter Family.

Throughout their career, The Carter Family had various members including A.P. Carter, Maybelle Carter, Sara Carter, Janette Carter, Joe Carter, Helen Carter, June Carter Cash (later known as June), Anita Carter, and Robbie Harden. They collaborated on numerous writing credits together such as "East Virginia Blues," "Lonesome Me," "Storms Are In The Ocean," "Wildwood Flower," "Will You Miss Me When I'm Gone?," and "Glory To The Lamb." However, some writing credits belong solely to A.P. Carter like "I'm Thinking Tonight Of My Blue Eyes," "Jimmie Brown, The Newsboy," and "Wabash Cannon Ball."

With a sound reminiscent of artists like Jimmie Rodgers and Charlie Poole among others from the same era of American folk music history; it's no wonder they are often compared to other influential acts such as Dock Boggs or even modern groups like New Lost City Ramblers
