The Congos

The Congos is a Jamaican vocal reggae band that was formed in the second half of the 1970s. The group consists of Cedric Myton, previously in The Tartans and Watty Burnett from The Emotions. They began recording at the Black Ark Studios for Lee "Scratch" Perry, who added Ashanti Roy to the lineup to handle the deeper chords.

Although they split in the early 1980s, The Congos reformed in the mid-1990s and have continued to captivate audiences with their unique sound ever since. Their music is deeply rooted in reggae tradition and has been influenced by artists such as The Abyssinians, Hugh Mundell, and Burning Spear.

If you enjoy listening to bands like Culture, Israel Vibration, or Steel Pulse, then you'll definitely appreciate The Congos' soulful melodies and powerful lyrics. Don't miss out on experiencing their timeless music!
