The Pandoras

The Pandoras were an all-female rock band from Los Angeles, California from 1982 to 1991. They started in the 1960s revival garage rock scene and later shifted to a hard rock sound. Led by Paula Pierce, the band leader and singer/songwriter, they made their mark in the music industry. After Pierce's untimely death in 1991, former members Melanie Vammen and Kim Shattuck formed The Muffs.

In 2013, drummer Sheri Kaplan Weinstein organized a reunion with former members Melanie Vammen, Karen Basset, and Susan Hyatt. This led to the formation of the 21st Century Pandoras with Gwynne Kahn's group. They released new music in 2014 as a tribute to their late bandmate Paula Pierce. The current lineup consists of Vammen, Basset, Hyatt (filling Pierce's role), and Hillary Burton on drums. In 2018, they released a new EP featuring primarily Pierce's compositions.

Despite facing challenges such as member changes and legal issues over their name rights after Pierce's passing, The Pandoras have persevered throughout the years. Their dedication to keeping Paula Pierce's legacy alive through their performances is commendable. Sadly, in October 2019, Kim Shattuck passed away due to complications related to ALS.
