The Verve

The Verve were an English rock band that formed in Wigan in 1990. The core members of the group were Richard Ashcroft on vocals, Nick McCabe on guitar, Simon Jones on bass, and Peter Salisbury on drums. They later added Simon Tong as a second guitarist for their album "Urban Hymns." Originally known as Verve, they changed their name to The Verve in 1994 after a dispute with a jazz label also named Verve.

Their early material was influenced by My Bloody Valentine and featured guitar-based soundscapes. However, they would later transition into a more conventional alternative rock sound. In April 1999, The Verve announced their disbandment but reunited eight years later to record a new album and resume touring.
