Yazoo

Yazoo (known as Yaz in North America) was an English synthpop duo from Basildon, Essex. Formed in late 1981 by former Depeche Mode songwriter Vince Clarke (synthesizer) and English singer Alison Moyet (vocals), they had a number of top ten hits in the British charts in the early 1980s. Signed to Mute Records Ltd., who licensed them to Sire Records Company in the USA, Yazoo quickly gained popularity on both sides of the Atlantic.

Inspired by their record label's name, Yazoo embarked on a successful music career that spanned several years. Their unique blend of synthesizers and powerful vocals set them apart from other artists at the time. With catchy melodies and relatable lyrics, their songs resonated with audiences worldwide.

If you enjoy listening to artists such as The Human League, Blancmange, or Bronski Beat, then you will definitely appreciate Yazoo's music. Their influence can be heard in the works of many synthpop bands that followed them.
