Keenon Daequan Ray Jackson, better known by his stage name YG, is an American rapper and actor from Compton, California. He gained recognition in 2009 with the release of his debut single "Toot It and Boot It" featuring Ty Dolla Sign. This track reached number 67 on the Billboard Hot 100 and led to him signing with Def Jam Recordings. Over the years, YG has released several mixtapes including The Real 4Fingaz, Just Re'd Up, Just Re'd Up 2, and 4 Hunnid Degreez.

In June 2013, YG signed a deal with Young Jeezy's imprint CTE World. His single "My Nigga" featuring Jeezy and Rich Homie Quan became his highest charting song to date, peaking at number 19 on the US Billboard Hot 100. Leading up to the release of his debut studio album, he also dropped singles like "Left, Right" and "Who Do You Love?" featuring Drake. On March 18, 2014, YG released his critically acclaimed debut album My Krazy Life through Pu$haz Ink, CTE World, and Def Jam.
