Joan Baez

American singer-songwriter and activist Joan Baez was born on January 9, 1941 in Staten Island, New York. Known for her soprano voice, three-octave range, and distinct vibrato, she started as a folk singer but has since explored various genres including rock, pop, country, and gospel. Her influence helped propel Bob Dylan's early career. In 2017, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Joan Baez is the daughter of Albert Baez and Joan Baez Sr., younger sister of Pauline Marden, and older sister of Mimi Farina who is also a folk musician. She had a romantic relationship with Bob Dylan in the mid-1960s before marrying David Harris from 1968 to 1974. Together they have a son named Gabriel Harris.
