Parlophone is an anglicization of the German [l=Parlophon] label, registered as a trademark in 1902 by Max Straus and Heinrich Zuntz of [b]Salon Kinematograph Co. GmbH[/b], later merged into [l=Carl Lindström A.-G.]. The first Parlophon records are pressed in 1910. 

By 1923, Parlophone proper appears in London administered by English Lindström branch known as [l311921],  Parlophon records were pressed in London and sold locally. By 1926 extended operations extended to press for export in Australia (#cat A) until the australian factory [l=Parlophone Co. Ltd.] was created somewhere the next year. These companies were subsequently taken over by [l97841] in 1927, following its acquisition of [l275192] in 1926, thus becoming a constituent part of [l293204] (EMI) when that company merged with [l253617] in 1931.

The label largely operated as a Jazz and Novelty label until manager, [a=George Martin], signed the [a=The Beatles] in 1962. As a result of its subsequent success and profile, the label was earmarked for phasing out in 1973 in favour of [l=EMI] (the label), however the parlophone imprint continued to be used by registered trademark owner [l=EMI Records Ltd.] and affiliated companies.

In September 2012 following the acquisition of [l1330982]'s US and Asian interests by [l=Universal Music Group], Parlophone and the former EMI Records Ltd. were merged as the [l806790] (PLG Holdco Ltd.) and spun off to be sold. 

They were sold to [l=Warner Music Group] in March 2013.
The Parlophone label is now owned by [l=Parlophone Records Ltd.], the re-named EMI Records Ltd., itself a subsidiary of [l=Warner Music International].

The Beatles were not part of the Parlophone Label Group and their catalogue was acquired by [l=Universal].

He was a British pop/rock singer, musician, songwriter, and actor. April 2023&nbsp;marks the 50th anniversary of&nbsp;the release&nbsp;of&nbsp;David Bowie’s&nbsp;Aladdin Sane, which was released only ten months after his breakthrough album&nbsp;The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars. The title track and songs such as&nbsp;‘Panic In Detroit,'&nbsp;‘Lady Grinning Soul’&nbsp;and&nbsp;‘Time’&nbsp;marked a significant musical progression from its predecessor, adding brass, woodwind, soulful backing vocals and the distinctive piano playing of Mike Garson. This limited edition 50th anniversary is half-speed&nbsp;mastered. This new pressing of&nbsp;Aladdine Sane was cut on a customised late Neumann VMS80 lathe with fully recapped electronics&nbsp;from 192kHz restored&nbsp;masters of the original&nbsp;master&nbsp;tapes, with no additional processing on transfer. The&nbsp;half-speed&nbsp;was cut by John Webber at AIR&nbsp;Studios. The album was preceded by two singles&nbsp;‘The Jean Genie’&nbsp;and&nbsp;‘Drive-In Saturday’,&nbsp;peaking in the U.K. singles chart at numbers 2 and 3 respectively,&nbsp;and was the first time he topped the U.K. album charts. It also marked&nbsp;Bowie’s&nbsp;debut on the U.S. charts reaching the top 20 album chart there, where an edited version of&nbsp;‘Time’&nbsp;was released as a single.&nbsp; &nbsp;The cover&nbsp;of&nbsp;Aladdin Sane has become one of the most&nbsp;striking and&nbsp;memorable&nbsp;images in rock n roll history&nbsp;and was rumoured to be the most expensive&nbsp;produced&nbsp;up to that point. The cover photograph was&nbsp;taken&nbsp;by Brian Duffy, who would also shoot the sleeves for 1979’s&nbsp;Lodger and 1980’s&nbsp;Scary Monsters and features Bowie with the iconic red and blue lightning bolt make-up, an image which&nbsp;has staked&nbsp;out an&nbsp;indelible spot in&nbsp;the planet’s&nbsp;cultural lexicon.&nbsp;&nbsp; Bowie described&nbsp;Aladdin Sane as ‘Ziggy Goes To Washington: Ziggy under the influence of America’. The album was to be Ziggy Stardust's last stand, and the persona was laid to rest three months after the album's release in July 1973 at the infamous final show&nbsp;with the&nbsp;Spiders&nbsp;From&nbsp;Mars&nbsp;at London’s Hammersmith Odeon.
