On U Sound is a UK based experimental reggae/dub label founded by Adrian Sherwood. With a rich history and an impressive catalogue of releases, the label has become synonymous with innovative and boundary-pushing music. Adrian Sherwood, also known as *Skip* (artist credits page), is not only the founder but also operates as an artist on the label. It's important to note that On U Sound should not be confused with the US based DJ/club remix label ON-USound.

Related labels such as Pressure Sounds and Green Tea are part of the On U Sound family, showcasing a diverse range of musical styles. EFA released some remastered titles with slightly altered cover artwork before going under in 2004. However, On-U Sound was relaunched in 2002 and made a powerful comeback with Little Axe's album 'Stone Cold Ohio' which marked its resurgence.

Dub Syndicate is On-U Sound's premier dub outfit and a name synonymous with the label from its inception. Led by drummer Style Scott, who was also the rhythm force of The Roots Radics, Dub Syndicate emerged from the early Creation Rebel. Members of The Roots Radics frequently join Dub Syndicate, along with other On-U Sound players and singers. Collaborating mostly with Adrian Sherwood, Scott also worked with others like Bill Laswell and Lee Scratch Perry. In 1982, they released the groundbreaking album "Pounding System," exploring ambient and electro dub. Despite Scott's death in 2014, the band continued touring and making records in various forms.

Dub Syndicate shares similarities with artists such as African Head Charge, New Age Steppers, and Zion Train. They have been influenced by legendary figures like King Tubby, Prince Jammy, and Prince Far I.

Their unique blend of dub music has garnered them a dedicated following over the years. With their innovative soundscapes and collaborations with renowned musicians, Dub Syndicate remains an influential force in the world of dub music.

Another great Dub Syndicate set, Strike the Balance features vocal contributions from mainstay Bim Sherman on a cover of Lloyd and Devon’s “Cuss Cuss”, and Shara Nelson (about to become a household name via her contributions to Massive Attack’s Blue Lines) on a version of Serge Gainsbourg's "Je T'aime."Originally released in 1989, and coinciding with the beginnings of Dub Syndicate as a touring unit. Available on vinyl for the first time in over 25 years, re-cut by Frank Merritt at The Carvery, with an inner sleeve featuring rare photography by Coneyl Jay and new liner notes by Rob Harris (Test Pressing).
