Faith No More is an influential rock band that formed in the aftermath of Faith. No Man's breakup. They experienced several lineup changes before settling on Chuck Mosley, Roddy Bottum, Billy Gould, Mike Bordin, and Jim Martin. Their debut album 'We Care A Lot' was released in 1985 and they achieved commercial success with their third studio album 'The Real Thing'. The band underwent further changes with the addition of vocalist Mike Patton and guitarist Trey Spruance. Despite conflicts and side projects, they continued to release music until their split in 1998. In 2009, Faith No More announced their reunion as a touring entity and went on to release new music.

After forming following the breakup of Faith. No Man., Faith No More went through various lineup changes before finding stability with Chuck Mosley (Vocals), Roddy Bottum (Keyboards), Billy Gould (Bass Guitar), Mike Bordin (Drums) and Jim Martin (Guitar). They released their debut album 'We Care A Lot' in 1985 under Mordam Records.

Their breakthrough came with the release of 'The Real Thing' in 1989, featuring hits like 'Epic'. This album marked the introduction of new vocalist Mike Patton after Chuck Mosley's departure from the band due to tensions within the group. With Patton on board, Faith No More achieved critical acclaim and commercial success.

just like the folks who prefer david lee roth's van halen over sammy hagar's, some fans like the chuck mosely version of faith no more over fnm's mike patton-fronted successor. with mosely at the vocal helm, the san francisco band's funk-metal rap felt fresher and less calculated. after hitting locally with a self-titled 1985 debut album, faith no more were picked up by slash records for this steve berlin/matt wallace-produced follow-up. introduce yourself reprises its predecessor's anthemic "we care a lot," which remained a live staple throughout the band's career. alongside it are other seminal fnm tracks such as "anne's song" and "chinese arithmetic," wherein the band's signature sound already lurks thanks to roddy bottum's classically nuanced keyboards and jim martin's crunchy guitar work. still, it's mosely's casual punk-ass attitude that carries the show. "can i get a transfer, man?" he whines at the start of "death march." "ninety-five cents?! fuck you, i'll skate to the beach and i'll look better getting there!" and while time has not been kind to some of the more generic tracks here, a band such as limp bizkit could still learn a lot from introduce yourself. the fact that it clocks in at a mere 38 minutes means you have that much more time to spin it again.
