Description
Kate Bush's 1989 album Sensual World remains her most mature and entrancing work. Following up on her 1986 breakthrough The Hounds of Love, expectations were high, and Bush delivered with this sometimes breathtaking, often introspective album.
On tracks like the erotic title song "Sensual World" and the dramatic "Love and Anger," Bush explores the complexities of relationships with a keen eye for detail and less frilly bluster than usual. Other standout tracks include the tense "Between a Man and a Woman" and the lush "This Woman's Work," which set the stage for Tori Amos's future success.
Expanding her musical palette, Bush incorporates Irish piper Davey Spillane, Balkan singers the trio Bulgarka, and jazz bassist Eberhard Weber, adding new dimensions to her sound.
