Measures to support accessibility

The website is run by Rough Trade. We want as many people to be able to use our website, this means you should be able to:

• zoom in up to 400% without text spilling off the screen
• change colours, contrast levels, and fonts using your browser settings
• resize the screen down to 320x256px without the need for two-dimensional scrolling
• navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
• listen to most of the website using a screen reader

Conformance status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. 

Rough Trade is being regularly tested using a combination of automated tools and self evaluation for conformance with WCAG 2.2 standards

Rough Trade is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.

Limitations and alternatives

Despite our ongoing efforts to ensure accessibility of roughtrade.com there are some known limitations, described below:

• most buttons are not correctly identified
• some pages have text that is styled as a header but not correctly tagged as such
• some images contain text, and decorative images are missing alternative text
• top navigation headers do not visibly expand when using the keyboard
• the carousel on on our homepage does not have controls to pause the animation
• the filter on our product listing pages cannot be fully controlled using only the keyboard or a screen reader
