Bodley Head

Bodley Head is a British publishing house that was founded in 1935 by Sir Allen Lane as a line of the publishers The Bodley Head. It became a separate company the following year and revolutionized publishing in the 1930s with its inexpensive paperbacks, sold through Woolworths and other high street stores for sixpence. Their success demonstrated that there was a large audience for serious books, impacting public debate in Britain through their publications on politics, arts, and science.

Since 2013, Bodley Head has been part of Penguin Random House, resulting from the merger of Random House and Penguin Group.
