Dark Horse

Dark Horse is a record label founded by George Harrison in the mid '70s. Although technically signed to EMI, Harrison used Dark Horse as his solo venture after The Beatles' Apple era. While its only major chart success came with the duo Splinter's hit 'Costafine Town', the label thrived throughout the '80s when Harrison left EMI and signed with Warner Bros Records. Even his solo albums carried the Dark Horse logo, including his final album Brainwashed. In 2020, Dhani Harrison and manager David Zonshine relaunched the label through a global partnership with BMG.

The label has had variations in pressing plants such as Capitol Records Pressing Plant in Los Angeles (LW), Jacksonville (JW), and Winchester (WW). The Winchester plant usually has an engraved horn.

Note that there are unofficial releases using the Dark Horse Records name, which can be found under Dark Horse Records (4).
