Ogun Records

Ogun Records is a jazz record label that was established in London in 1973 by South African expatriate bassist Harry Miller, his wife Hazel Miller, and sound engineer Keith Beal. The label recorded British avant-garde jazz musicians such as Keith Tippett, Mike Osborne, Elton Dean, Lol Coxhill, Harry Beckett, Trevor Watts and their collaborations with expatriate South Africans including the Blue Notes, Chris McGregor, Dudu Pukwana, Mongezi Feza, Louis Moholo, and Johnny Dyani in groups like McGregor's Brotherhood of Breath, Dean's Ninesense, and Miller's Isipingo.

During the early 1980s Ogun Records did not release any music for several years while the Millers resided in the Netherlands. Tragically in 1983 Harry Miller lost his life in a car accident. In 1986 Hazel Miller resumed releasing new titles on LP with assistance from John Jack of Cadillac Records. By 1990 she transitioned to releasing albums on CD format. Since then Ogun Records has consistently added one to three new releases to their CD catalog each year. These additions mostly consist of new or previously unreleased recordings along with some CD editions of earlier LP releases.

With an impressive roster of talented artists and a commitment to showcasing innovative jazz music over the past few decades,Ogun Records continues to be a significant force within the industry.
