Solid Brass Records

Welcome to Solid Brass Records, the home of Jamie and Guyden Records and its affiliated companies. With a rich history dating back to 1954, Jamie/Guyden has been at the forefront of the music industry for decades. Originally distributed by Gone and End Records, labels owned by legendary entrepreneur George Goldner, Jamie and Guyden quickly made a name for themselves with hits like *Why Do Fools Fall in Love?* by Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers.

In 1955, Universal Record Distributing Corp. was founded as a regional distributor for Philadelphia, eastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, and Delaware. Alongside distributing labels such as Cadence Records (home to artists like Everly Brothers), A&M (featuring Herb Alpert's Tijuana Brass), Chess, ABC Paramount, MGM, Epic Records, and George Goldner's labels; Jamie/Guyden had their own successful releases including Duane Eddy's "Rebel Rouser" and Mitchell Torok’s "Caribbean."

Throughout the 1960s, Jamie/Guyden continued to thrive both through their own output and national distribution deals. Notably distributing Phil Spector’s Philles Records with hits like *Be My Baby* by The Ronettes. They also launched their own r&b and soul label called *Phil-LA of Soul*, which produced Cliff Nobles’ "The Horse" among others.
