State of Art

State of Art, formerly known as SOA Studios or State Of Art Studio, was a renowned recording studio located in Easton, Bristol, UK. Founded by Julian Hill in 1991, the studio initially offered recording services and rehearsal rooms. With talented engineers like Julian Hill, Shaun Atkins, and Dave McDonald (2), it quickly gained recognition.

In 1997, Geoff Barrow from Portishead became a part-owner of the studio, leading to its privatization for a period. Following an extensive equipment upgrade in late 1999, State of Art reopened its doors to the public under the management of Stuart Matthews and chief engineer Rick Dowding.

Though now defunct and transformed into Invada Studios based in Bedminster district of Bristol, State of Art's legacy lives on through its contributions to the music industry.
