The Record Republic

The Record Republic is a New York City-based American record label that was founded in 1995 by Avery Lipman and Monte Lipman. Originally an independent label, it was acquired by Universal Music Group (UMG) in 2000. Initially known as an imprint of The Universal/Motown Records Group, the label underwent a reorganization in 2006 and became Universal Republic Records. However, it returned to its original name in 2012.
