Third Man / Italy

Third Man / Italy is a German multinational corporation that traces its origins back to the late 19th century. Originally a gramophone factory founded by Swedish inventor Carl Olef Lindström, the company quickly grew and merged with other labels to become Carl Lindström A.-G. By 1914, they had acquired numerous local German and European companies, including Odeon Werke in Germany and Fonotipia in Italy. Despite setbacks during World War I, the company recovered and expanded its operations across Europe and Latin America. In 1932, it became the manufacturing arm of Electrola GbmH before eventually merging with EMI to form EMI Electrola GmbH in 1972.

Throughout its history, Third Man / Italy has been known for its diverse range of labels, including Parlophon, Beka-Grand-Record, Era Grand Record, Scala-Record, Odeon, Fonotipia, Jumbo-Record, Dacapo-Record, Lyrophon, Atlanta and Favorite. While some of these labels were discontinued or renamed over time due to various reasons such as licensing agreements or changes in ownership structure.

The company played a significant role in the development of the music industry by establishing factories and recording agencies in major cities like Berlin, Paris,Viena,London,Milan,and Buenos Aires. It also had exclusive deals with notable figures like Fred Figner's Casa Edison Fred Figner in Brazil
