Martin Hannett was the legendary Manchester record producer who created the ground breaking punk and post punk production sounds for bands including Joy Division, early New Order, Buzzcocks, early U2, John Cooper Clarke, Magazine, The Stone Roses and Happy Mondays. An electronic echo and synth pioneer Martin Hannett was fascinated from being a child with Dr Who, science fiction, the BBC Radiophonic Workshop and electronic music pioneer Delia Derbyshire who was one of the innovators at the Radiophonic Workshop. In September 1982 Martin Hannett put together some tapes at Strawberry Studios of his synth and electronic music recordings and named the project his Homage to Delia Derbyshire. Now most of this material is released to the world for the first time, hear Hannett’s 18 tracks of electronic music- Hannett simply called the tracks Homage to Delia Derbyshire tracks 1 to 18.
