Description
Recorded in 1970 in the legendary MPS studio, Another Day features the lesser-known trio constellation of Oscar Peterson himself on piano, George Mraz on bass, and Ray Price on drums. While Peterson, who
was 45, was still at the peak of his powers and world famous in 1970, the new members of his trio were virtually unknown to his fans of the period. But especially bassist Mraz would soon grow popular himself,
appear on over 200 sessions including around 20 as a leader and his endless resume included associations
with Stan Getz, the Thad Jones-Mel Lewis Orchestra, Bill Evans, Tommy Flanagan, Joe Henderson and
countless others. The Peterson-Mraz-Price trio lasted for about a year, recording this album as well as the famous Walking The Line.
Another Day has plenty of highlights, one surely being "All The Things You Are", which is one of Peterson's most streamed tracks. The performances show that this overlooked version of the Oscar Peterson Trio
could hold its own with its more famous predecessors.
Remastered by Grammy-nominated engineer Christoph Stickel, this release offers an intensive look into the trios' dynamic, inviting enthusiasts to finally Peterson album - also on AAA vinyl.
