THE EIGHTH STUDIO ALBUM OF PROGRESSIVE EXPERIMENTAL ROCK FROM THE DUTCH LEGENDS
'Home' is the eighth studio album by Dutch band The Gathering & was originally released on 15th April 2006 by Sanctuary Records through its heavy metal label, Noise. 'Home' was also the last album to feature lead singer and lyricist Anneke van Giersbergen.
The release was produced, mixed and engineered by Attie Bauw, who was also at the helm during the 'How to Measure a Planet?' recordings, and was recorded in a little church in Maurik, the Netherlands. Drummer Hans Rutten described 'Home' as being "more stripped-down and primitive, more concentrated on song structures". The album includes a concept based about the daily routine of the life & is considered The Gathering's most dark and emotional work to date.
The Gathering was founded in 1989 by brothers Hans and Ren? Rutten and vocalist Bart Smits. The early incarnation of the band featured a much more death and doom metal-based style than the more atmospheric rock and experimental music they became known for over the years, having enjoyed a highly successful career globally over a 20-year period. The band recorded 2 demos initially before making their studio debut with 'Always?'.
This mid-price CD edition of 'Home' is presented in a jewel case with an 8-page booklet.
