Alt-rock powerhouse UGLY share their highly anticipated debut EP Twice Around The Sun. Drip feeding tracks since 2022, the group have become renowned amongst peers for their shape shifting sound that blends experimental post-rock with swelling choral textures. Previous singles from this release include ‘Sha’, ‘Hands of Man’, ‘Shepherd’s Carol’. The project was produced at Church Studios by Balázs Altsach, assistant to Paul Epworth who has worked on music for The Last Dinner Party, Wet Leg, and Blur. Hailing from Cambridge and its surrounding areas, UGLY originally evolved through the band’s choral background. Glimmers of its influence can be heard throughout their catalogue - instantly gripping infectious melodies, explosive dynamic changes and rich, intricate harmonies.

Speaking on the release, the band say “Twice Around The Sun is a way of giving a home to the songs written over two very formative and pivotal years in Ugly’s history. A lot has changed, both musically and as for us as people. Although these songs are not necessarily coherent under one umbrella - they tell a tale of musical discovery and hint to ideas and themes that we will use when writing going forward. These songs will always have a special place in Ugly’s history books, no matter how the sound changes moving forward. They have helped us grow as performers and musicians and brought us back to fighting shape after a period of wondering whether that would be possible!” Having previously toured with Black Country, New Road and Lime Garden, Ugly recently wrapped their own headline tour across the UK. The band have a string of summer festivals this year including; Green Man, End of The Road, Pitchfork Music Festival Paris, Dot to Dot and Float Along Festival with more dates to be confirmed soon!
