Goldie

Goldie is a British graffiti writer, drum and bass/jungle artist, DJ, actor, and TV personality. He became one of the first personalities in British dance music, popularizing drum'n'bass as a form of musical expression. Born on September 19, 1965, in Walsall, England, Goldie's early career saw him working on his production skills at Reinforced Records before founding the Metalheadz label. He released influential singles by artists such as Source Direct and Photek. Goldie's debut album "Timeless" (1995) solidified his position at the top of the drum'n'bass scene. Despite later ventures into acting and reality TV shows, he continues to release music and received an MBE for services to music and young people.

A native of Walsall, England, Goldie was born to a Scottish-Jamaican couple and put up for adoption. He became fascinated with hip-hop culture during his childhood years and developed a passion for breakdancing and graffiti art. His nickname "Goldie" originated from "Goldielocks," given to him during his B-boy days due to his blonde dreadlocks. In the 1980s, he gained recognition as a pioneer of aerosol art through his graffiti paintings known as 'burners' or 'pieces.' Goldie's involvement in the breakbeat culture led him to switch his allegiance from British hip-hop to jungle.
