Patto
British progressive rock band Patto was formed in England in 1970. The group was founded by vocalist Mike Patto, who recruited members from the band Timebox. Alongside Patto, the lineup included Ollie Halsall on guitar and vibraphone, Clive Griffiths on bass, and John Halsey on drums. After Timebox's last Deram single failed and Chris Holmes departed in 1970, the band renamed themselves to Patto.
Patto quickly gained recognition for their unique sound and energetic live performances. Their music combined elements of rock, jazz, and blues, creating a distinctive progressive rock style that set them apart from other bands of the era.
Despite critical acclaim and a dedicated fan base, Patto faced challenges within the music industry that hindered their commercial success. However, their influence can still be heard today in the work of many contemporary artists. With their innovative approach to songwriting and musicianship, Patto remains an important figure in the history of British progressive rock.
